Academy Record Win!!
The Men’s Academy team returned the favour of an earlier defeat in the season at the hands of University of California, San Diego by crushing them 81-19!! Outstanding performances were displayed across the field with special mentions to captain Morgan Frothingham with a hat-trick of tries and Alec Gletzer who scored two, Sage Winn also put in a sterling performance and like Alec and Morgan, was devastating with ball in hand!
The win puts us in second position in our league conference with two games remaining. The team’s next match will be at home on Storke Field from 11.00 am against a very physical and tough Cal State University, Fullerton side.

Two Wins to Begin the Regular Season
The SBRA’s season in the National Division II Collegiate Championship has commenced with two solid wins against Cal State University, Long Beach and Cal State Univeristy, Fullerton. The team represents the Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) and soon found out that this division will be close and a hard fought one!
The campaign began at home on February 4th against Long Beach with a A team securing a 16-12 win that went right down to the wire. Ollie Cregg and Gill Covey scored the tries and Morgan Frothingham slotted two penalties. The B team were a little more convincing running away with the match 44-5. Kamal Hawkins crossed for his first try for the club and added another two for an impressive hat trick!
Two weeks later SBCC took on a very physical Fullerton team with us taking the spoils once more 18-5! Matt Weber and Morgan scored the two tries and Morgan hit the conversion for Webs’ try and kicked another two penalties. The B team racked up another impressive 68-12 win with special mention to our hooker Gabriel Sierra who crossed for 5 tries!! Our next game is away to Long Beach again this Saturday.

Youth Rugby Kicking off in Santa Barbara
It’s here!! The Santa Barbara Rugby Academy in conjunction with the Grunions Rugby Football Club is sponsoring the development of a youth team in the Santa Barbara region. We invite all children less than 14 years of age to join us and learn about this exciting world renowned sport. The team will be entered into the Southern California Youth Rugby Developmental League.
